Ethical Principles

  • We are acting in the best interest of the client. The client's and the public's safety always comes before other loyalties.

  • Maintaining a high standard of assessment and therapy practice. Any intervention is based upon evaluation and assessment of the client and their environment and implemented so that the effectiveness can be evaluated. All aims and goals of assessments/treatments are discussed, agreed upon, and contracted via informed consent with the client.

  • Confidentiality -the information about service users is confidential and used only for continuing to care for that person or the purposes contracted between the therapist and the client via Informed Consent.

  • High Standards of Personal Conduct.

  • Acting within the limits of personal and professional knowledge, skills and experience and referring the matter to another practitioner or specialist if necessary.

  • Proper and Effective Communications

  • Working with informed consent to provide treatment (except in an emergency)

  • Openness, transparency and integrity, including "duty of Candor."

  • Respect - inherent worth of all people across geographical, cultural and social boundaries and professional disciplines regardless of social status, ethnic origin, gender, capacities or any other group-based characteristics.

  • Competence - maintenance of high professional standards and work within the recognised limits of knowledge, skills and experience.
